Here you will find a list of business quotes that enlighten your day. A new quote will be added at least twice a month so you may want to follow this blog so you are notified each time they are published. I hope they will be useful to you as you pursue your day-to-day business activities. They will be from the famous and not so famous in business and industry. Use them wisely as you become true business professionals. Keep in mind - the world of business is no place for amateurs. Every entrepreneur learns this as their business expands and matures. The faster they recognize this the more successful their business becomes. "Surround yourself with people who know what you do not know - so you will learn what you do not know!"
It usually takes years of missteps and learning encounters to become a professional business person. Unfortunately, it seems, in today's business world the young MBAs' think they know it all. The standard MBA program gives you a lot of terminology and case studies but is only one of many building blocks to success. The same knowledge can be, and often is, obtained by on-the-job experience - it just takes a little longer. You don't become a professional athlete by going to class. Classes are supportive - hard work, practice, and constant learning from your mistakes make a great athlete. Company's are shedding many of the truly experienced professional business managers and leaders just as they reach the peak of their knowledge curve because they are considered too expensive or 'out-of-date'. Instead they should be embraced and challenged by new opportunities all the time. Sure, some are in it for the pay check - but these are easy to spot due their lack of maintaining a continuous learning cycle and lack of asking for more challenging assignments. Fresh young faces and ideas are always a plus, but they must be tempered by seasoned veterans who are supportive and good mentors. If the mentors are threatened by the "fresh young faces" because they have seen their ranks diminished as the new people come on board they will not transfer knowledge and wisdom to the new people. The experienced people must be given opportunities to excel and/or support positions that are in line with their contribution to the company.
Use these quotes wisely and often, each will be presented on a separate page so you can print them out. The listing here will try to highlight the quotes key words or theme, along with the author (if known). Of course I have to list one of my own first - I have used it many times at international conferences and with every organization I have managed.
